One of the first things I was a part of doing for the entire project was discussing and designing with Marcy and Nick on the map for Gatebreaker. The concept of the game was still fresh in my mind, being the newest to the whole group, but there was a very clear direction Marcy and the others wanted to head to for the game, so I was able to understand the assignment quickly. Taking Hollow Knight's map as an example, we assembled a map with over 60 rooms. From there, we simplified and cut what we thought wasn't needed, eventually settling into a map with 13 rooms. It would be quite a lot to do over a semester, but I have faith that we can do it. Even if we can't, we have next semester to work during and other goals to achieve, so it wouldn't be a super big deal, I think.

Along with map making from earlier on, I did some dialogue and character design this week. It was super interesting trying to write for characters I haven't had a hand in making, and I'm happy with the results I've made (so does Marcy (maker of the characters), so I think that means I'm on the right track)! For the character design, we were able to get deep into it, brainstorming and sketching many side character's designs, but in the end we decided that we needed to focus on Syra and Yvonne since they're the focus of the game. I completely understand, of course, but I won't lie, I am a little attached to the doodles I made during the character designing phase.
